It would be so great if the news reported on, you know, news. This is good and important climate news that’s also good economic news, but I think most of us have almost no clue what the Inflation Reduction Act has done across the country.
(Thanks Sunrise Movement for the Green New Deal that made the case that doing what the climate needs can be doing what working people and the economy need and served as the template for the Inflation Reduction Act. And thanks to the reader who reminded me that these NEW jobs are many times more jobs than coal-mining provides–for some reason protecting -dangerous, toxic, and sometimes fatal coal mining jobs — has been a big political deal. Looks like there’s between 40-50k coal jobs, versus 334k jobs for the energy transition that really needs to scale up to meet the crisis.)
