The Revolution will not be televised, but the Revelation is on the big screen in the highest court of the land.

Please pay attention America, this, what you have seen for the last few days, is the everyday life of us- black women.

We are the double minority in the room. Black. Female. It’s a double negative, if you will.

Hearing the repetitive comments about her “temperament” dug deep into my heart because far too often we, black women, are judged by others because of the prison of their perspective without regard to the Prism of possibilities we hold in our hearts to achieve the triumphs of the day. Often failing to see the totality of the whole woman, the focus is on our face, our hair, or maybe they “can’t quit put their finger on it”.

Know this, assumptions are the handcuffs of growth. To assume that her disposition would be anything other than professional and Just is erroneous. Know also that the tears she shed were (to me) the thank you from her heart to Cory Booker, for SEEING her. We are often not seen and not heard and my God we are ALWAYS questioned- our degree requirements and knowledge base has to be astronomical in nature leading to our feelings of “imposter syndrome” despite the Dunning-Kruger effect many walk in as they sit in the proverbial judgment seat without even the most minute know how, experience, or skills required to do the most basic duties of the positions they are less than qualified to hold.

As it’s been said before, she will be confirmed, but know this, God has already ESTABLISHED her to take her seat as Chief Justice.

This post is for all of us little brown girls who have sat with the Honorable Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson figuratively through this and who have literally been “tried” everyday that we grace this world with our presence.

WE ARE HERE. WE ARE CONFIRMED. WE ARE ENOUGH.
