So there you have it, at the back of the back field, in a currently leafless tree and at least 60ft up, is what I now know to be at least one of the resident crows nests. Right on time, it seems, a mating pair build their nest over a week sometime in February, can produce up to a dozen eggs and the young are ready to fly on their own by May. They don’t necessarily return to the same nest year over year, unless conditions of food source and lack of predators make the place ideal. I will be making good use of my binoculars this Spring, watching my noisy neighbor bird babies.
