Delayed thoughts on an overflowing day
Big, big rain yesterday,
Today the sun creates long winter shadows at 10:00am
All the low lying grass is underwater
Half the trees stream side are sitting in water,
As I walk, the water mirrors the trees in a gentle stop-motion,
It appears that the trees walk with me
Some things are seen and heard
The blue jays’ fast sound as I pass
twit twit twit…twit twit twit twit
twit twit twit…twit twit twit twit
The fast flow of Cougar Creek into Salmon Creek
A low flying bi-plane
Some things are seen but not heard
A hawk gracefully flows East, searching the length of the trail
Some things are not seen but heard
More frogs at the Felida end of the trail
And some things seen for the first time
A group of horses and riders near the end of my walk.
