Generations of Rochesterians made a downtown visit to Sibley’s Toyland and the Magic Corridor an annual part of their holiday-season traditions.

The Magic Corridor took children through a dark tunnel lined with animated characters portraying various Christmas stories. Toyland was Sibley’s way of beefing up its assortment of kids’ playthings with gala displays and offerings — like trombone-shaped kazoos, giant toy soldiers and trains — during the holidays.

Sibley’s also had a “Breakfast with Santa” event that delighted hundreds of children every year. No wonder Sibley’s experiences left so many nostalgic memories.

“The Magic Corridor was like being transported to a dream world,” Cindy Lattuca Knope added on Facebook. “I looked forward to it more than anything. Everything about Sibley’s said Christmas to me.”
